3-4 servings
Ingredients:
1 pound (about 450g) fresh chestnuts
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Prepare the chestnuts: Using a sharp knife, carefully score an “X” onto the flat side of each
chestnut. This will prevent them from exploding while roasting and will make them easier to peel
later.
Roast the chestnuts: Place the scored chestnuts on a baking sheet in a single layer, with the
scored side facing up. Roast them in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the
shells start to peel back and the insides are tender.
Prepare the coating: While the chestnuts are roasting, mix together the melted butter,
granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl until well combined.
Coat the chestnuts: Once the chestnuts are roasted and still hot, carefully peel off the shells
while they’re still warm. You can use a clean kitchen towel to protect your hands if they’re too
hot to handle directly.
Toss with the butter mixture: Place the peeled chestnuts in a large bowl and pour the melted
butter, sugar, and cinnamon mixture over them. Toss gently until all the chestnuts are evenly
coated.
Serve: Transfer the coated chestnuts to a serving dish and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious
roasted chestnuts with a delightful buttery, cinnamon, and sugary flavor!
Optional: You can sprinkle some extra cinnamon sugar on top for added sweetness and flavor
before serving, if desired.
These roasted chestnuts make a wonderful snack or a festive treat during the holiday season!
Enjoy!
